I will say this, though: the F6 is surprisingly dense and feels much more solid than the Df which sells at a similar MSRP here in the US. In other words, it's good, but it is also clear we've made advances over the past nine years. The F6 dates to the D2 generation in the mid-2000s, and the camera's ergonomics and parts are remarkably similar to the D2h I owned for a brief time. I had planned to grab some film from the local photo-store in anticipation of receiving the F6 this weekend, so I've only had the chance to fondle handle the camera, set it up, and shoot it "dry". A few days later and it shows up on my doorstep a couple days early. At that price, it became impulse rather than think-very-hard-about-it. An F6 came up on Amazon recently, the listing claiming the body was gently used. The irrational part, of course - the rest knowing that digital rules, film is dead (and I shoot ~5 rolls of film a year on my OM-1), etc. Yes, I know my 85mm and carpet need to be cleaned.Įver since I heard of the Nikon F6, something in me itched for one.
